Stefania Fernandez: The New Miss Universe 2009
Everyone wants to be Ms. Universe. One crown yet almost 83 beauties are competing for the title. In the recently held Miss Universe pageant, one name stood tall among the participants and that is Stefania Fernandez from Venezuela. August 23rd seemed to be the lucky day for Miss Venezuela as she was crowned Miss Universe 2009 which made her country won the title 2 in a row. She was also the 6th Venezuelan candidate who bagged the prestigious award.
All the people in the pageant was excited when Stefania Fernandez was announced Miss Universe 2009. First time in the history of the pageant that successor of the crown is from the same country as that of the previous winner. With so much excitement, Miss Universe 2008 fumbled and dropped the crown before it was transferred to Fernandez.
It is of no doubt that Stefania Fernandez deserves the crown. She has the beauty and the brain that embodies the vision and mission of the organization. However, Stefania did not win an easy fight. It was a tough fight over the crown. The early favorites were Australia and Dominican Republic. But Miss Venezuela’s grace, confidence and dignity made her the winner as reflected to her remarkable answer to the question on obstacles that are being faced by women in becoming leaders of business corporations. Everyone was wowed when she replied confidently that women are already on the same level as that of men. Her answer showed the true prowess of being a woman that all title holders of the prestigious Miss Universe crown exudes. Stefania defeated Miss Dominican Republic who became the first runner-up and Miss Kosovo who landed the second runner-up position.
All in all, the Miss Universe 2009 pageant held at the Bahamas went well as expected.
